Celebrating 5 Years of Fanfare
2018 celebrates 5 years of Fanfare in Australia and sees 40 young people aged 12-21 years participate in the program and over 600 young people enter. Artology originally brought the program to Australia after seeing it in action at the Royal Opera House, UK. Now established in 5 venue across Australia, broadcasting new Australian fanfares within their foyers. We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who has given it go and entered the competition, the supportive teachers and tutors, the mentors, the musicians and conductors at the Australian Youth Orchestra and our fabulous venue partners.
So much new music created is truly awe inspiring.
Thinking of entering in 2019?
Over the Christmas holidays why not start sketching your ideas for 2019 … it’s never too early to make a start! You can listen to all 40 fanfares online. Entries open February 2019.
Conductor, Tianyi Lu
We are always inspired by the Australian Youth Orchestra conductors. Many are in the early stages of their careers and have already achieved so much. This year we had the pleasure of working with Tianyi Lu, the assistant conductor at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Her attention to detail and generosity to the musicians and the young composers was great to experience.
Cool Resources
Our friends at Cool Australia have many resources available to help with simple classroom activities and a DIY guide for students to work independently. We’d love to hear from you, if there are areas of composition or other music related activities you’d like assistance with or you think would contribute to the resources, please let us know.
