Queensland Youth Orchestras In Concert
Queensland Youth Orchestras concert held last month with QYO 2 and QYO 3 at The Old Museum was presented online and to a supportive full house audience. BIG thank you to the QYO’s team and conductors David Deacon and Paul Dean. If you missed the concert you can watch online now.
Jonathan Platz (Age 15, Atherton Qld) says, “Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this year’s To Country program. The opportunity to work with professional musicians, conductor David Deacon and the Queensland Youth Orchestra was truly amazing. The entire process of first creating the score to finally hearing the piece performed live was an extremely rewarding one and I now walk away having added more tools to my composer’s toolbox.”
Fanfares in the Foyers
Have you checked out the broadcast schedule for the Fanfares this year? This week we kick off at Queensland Performing Arts Centre with Annika Ganesh’s (Age 12, SA) fanfare ‘Unum’. You can hear Annika’s composition in the QPAC foyers, 7.30pm, Saturday 10 September as part of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Masterworks Maestro 8 – Piano Power concert. Check out the events page for all venue broadcast dates here.
Natalie Wihandoo at the Australian Theatre for Young People
Natalie recently attended the first ATYP rehearsal with her mentor Chrysoulla Markoulli. She says, “It is an absolute honour to have been chosen to create the sound design for The Shack! This project is my first experience managing sound design for a theatre production so I was quite nervous before the first session with ATYP, but everyone there was super welcoming. I’m really excited about this project and I can’t wait to collaborate with such a talented team!”
