Meet the 2022 Fanfare and To Country Composers

Introducing the 2022 Composers

We are looking forward to meeting the 41 selected composers at the first workshop on Saturday 30 July. In July and August the composers will work with the mentors to finalise their compositions. Our team of mentors this year are Nicholas Vines, Lyle Chan, Christopher Sainsbury, Nicole Murphy, Jessica Wells and Chrysoulla Markoulli. Meet the composers – listen to their music and find out what inspires them.

Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) group will have their fanfares recorded at Trackdown Studios on Saturday 10 September 2022. The recordings will be broadcast at venues across Australia in 2023 including the Rebel Theatre (NSW), Adelaide Festival Centre (SA), Perth Concert Hall (WA), Queensland Performing Arts Centre (Qld) and Theatre North at the Princess (Tas). The 8 selected composers are:

Sydney Youth Orchestras (SYOs) group will have their compositions performed and recorded on Sunday 6 November 2022, 2pm at the Registrar-General’s Building, Sydney. The 12 selected composers are:

Queensland Youth Orchestras (QYOs) group will have their compositions performed and recorded live on Saturday 27 August 2022, 3.45pm at the Old Museum, Bowen Hills with conductors Paul Dean and Simon Hewitt. The event will be live-streamed. The 12 composers are:
