In 2013, Artology Remix re-invented one of the 20th century’s greatest masterpieces – Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon – and turned it into a multi-genre performance work. The student artists were asked to conceive and execute this new work as if they were professionals, under the guidance of professional composers, instrumentalists, a poet, visual artists, a choreographer and stage director and others. The work culminated in a public performance in the foyer of the Art Gallery of NSW.
The team was led by Cathy Milliken, former Head of Education at the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra; composer Lyle Chan; visual artists’ Gabrielle Courtenay and Jackie Dunn; poet and Artistic Director of The Red Room, Johanna Featherstone; Berlin based choreography, Rhys Martin; and three instrumentalists.
